Alicia was born in Madrid, Spain on March 1, 1950, to Juliana Arbe Perez and Jesus Blesa Rojas, whom she adored. An only child, she grew up alongside her cousins Gene and Pili. Sadly, she lost her father at the age of sixteen, but her mother lived on to the impressive age of ninety-six. After finishing school, she worked in an accountant’s office until she met and married the love of her life, Ron, on September 20, 1973. Their first daughter Samantha followed soon after in October 1974, born at Torrejon AB, Spain.

As Ron was an NCO in the U.S. Air Force, the family moved to Travis AFB in California in 1977; daughter Alison was born there in December 1979. Wanting to return to Europe to be close to Alicia’s family in Spain, the family then moved to Incirlik AB, Turkey from 1980 to 1981, then on to Izmir City, Turkey from 1981 to 1982. A transfer to Zaragoza AB in Spain followed in 1982 to 1984, then the family was stationed at Aviano AB, Italy for 15 months. A six-year assignment at Volkel AB, Netherlands followed, with the family finally settling in Colorado Springs in 1991 as Ron finished out his Air Force career back in the United States at Falcon Air Station. As the years passed, Alicia was blessed with three wonderful grandsons: Christopher, Dorian, and Matthew. In 2020, she welcomed a great-granddaughter, Mazikeen.

Alicia adored all animals, but especially dogs, which she doted on her entire life. She enjoyed bowling and competed in Europe and Colorado Springs for years, coming in second place in women’s doubles for Spain in 1983. She was also a member of the Senior All-Stars Bowlers of Colorado Springs. Alicia loved collecting and decorating and liked designing displays of her collections around her house and yard. She also enjoyed playing bingo. In fact, so much, that during their military assignments she was known to learn the host nation languages numbers quickly in order to find the local bingo hall and be able to play. While Alicia eventually became a U.S. citizen, she also traveled home to her beloved Spain whenever she could to spend time with her cousins and relive the fond memories of her youth.
