Charlie Holt, Sr, 78, passed away on August 2, 2018. He had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1975 when he was transferred to Ft. Carson.

Charlie was born on February 12, 1940 to Isaiah Holt, Sr and Classie (Jordan) Holt in Juliette, GA. On December 5, 1981 he married Margaret “Marty” Ramsey of Mercer County, PA, in Colorado Springs.

Charlie loved to cook and bake for his family and friends. He enjoyed watching old Japanese Samurai movies on Saturday mornings and reading both mystery and western novels. In recent years he discovered the joys of exploring America’s National Parks with Marty and family.

Charlie enlisted in the US Army in 1957 and in October 1969 he went to OCS and became an infantry officer serving at various locations including three tours in Vietnam. After retiring in 1979 Charlie joined Marty working in the moving industry. From 1993 to 2003 they successfully operated their own company, Triple H Moving. After attempting to retire he went to work for Community Outreach, an organization committed to supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Over the years Charlie volunteered at various charitable agencies.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marty; his children: Nicole Y. Holt of Colorado Springs, Charlie Holt, Jr of Phoenix; and Devery R. Banks (Jeremy) of Aurora; and his two grandsons: Saliou H. Mbengue and Desmond C. Banks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Classie (Jordan) Holt Brown of Detroit, MI; his brother, Isaiah Holt, Jr of Park Forest, IL; and his oldest daughter, Charlitha L. Holt-Mbengue of Detroit, MI.

The funeral will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 with the viewing at 1:00 and services at 2:00 at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. The service will include full military honors. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.

  1. I remember Charlie as always being such a giving person. He had a very special bond with all the individuals and staff that he work with at COI. Charlie’s heart was made of gold and I could only hope to meet more people in the world with his amazing personality. He is truly missed and loved.
