She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church and served on their Endowment Committee for many years. She supported the El Paso County Humane Society and adopted several cats from them. She also supported the MOAA scholarship program and the scholarship named in memory of her husband.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her younger brother, Gerald Connors; and her husband, Jack, who died June 11, 1995. Clara is survived by her three daughters: Barbara Pirch, Carol Starr (Gina), and Linda Remele (Steve); along with grandchildren: Jennifer Haddix, Steve Haddix (Marjory), Scott Haddix (Debbie), Chantel Curbo (Oski), and Jonathan Niven; her great-grandchildren: Jordan Haddix, Alexandra Haddix, Julie Ann Haddix, Joshua Haddix, Christopher Haddix, and Emelia Curbo; and great-great grandson, Alexander Haddix; and her cat, Lovey.
