March 1, 1926 – January 8, 2021

   Lloyd Milton Hendrix, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1974, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021. 

   Lloyd was born on March 1, 1926 to Sam Blackmon and Elisabeth Anni Hendrix in Mobile, Alabama.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1974, retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class, and also earned the Purple Heart medal.  His military service took him overseas to the Philippines, Korea, Germany and Guam.  He married Ferna Magarethe Fischer on August 30, 1991 in Colorado Springs.

   He owned Lloyd’s Stairs from 1975 to 1995 and supplied staircases for 90% of the local contractors during that time.  He was also a member of the Austrian-American Enzian Club, The Retired Enlisted Association, and the Korean Veterans Association.

   He is survived by his wife, Ferna; two daughters, Jackie Richards (husband Dave), and Claudine Hendrix; two grandchildren, Abby Brando, and Jason Richards; a cousin, Tom Hendrix; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

   Memorials in Lloyd’s name may be made to Colorado Palliative and Hospice Care.

   A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.  The service will be officiated by Pastor John Hendrix.  Private interment will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
