Melanie Rose Garvin, 66, passed away January 10, 2021, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born November 21, 1954 in Springfield, Ohio to Bill and Virginia Garvin. She graduated with her undergrad from the University of Akron and her Master’s in Special Education from Capital University. She went on to teach students with special needs who are hearing impaired and she did this until retirement in 2016.

She enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking, canning, and baking (especially pies), and most recently started quilting. Nothing made her happier than watching her favorite Irish bands perform live and learning about her Irish heritage. Also, you could hear her for miles on game day if her beloved Cleveland Browns were playing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Joyce “Jodi” (Carl) Owens and Barbara “Bobi” (Phil) Naukam. Melanie is survived by her husband, Rick Wellman; daughters, Erica Verderico; Gina (Dustin); Dana Woodhurst (Andrew); brothers, Keith Garvin (Lisa); Robert Hall (Tonya); and grandchildren, Triton and Lily.

Services will be held at Shrine of Remembrance at 1730 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Calling hours will be Friday, January 15th from 5pm-7pm MT. There were just a few houses built at the time, but somehow we met and became friends. In recent years, we caught up again, and I hadn’t seen her on FB for a bit so I searched her timeline. My prayers are with her friends and family. She fought the fight, and kept God in her life. I know she’s in heaven now with her loved ones.

  14. I was just thinking of Melanie today, & wishing we could chat. I know it won’t be long till we are together in Heaven. I miss you friend! See you soon ?
