Michael Carman passed away on January 2, 2019. A Navy veteran who served in Vietnam, Michael received his BA and MA in Mexican History from San Diego State University after completing his 12 years of service to the United States Navy. Michael also received a Master’s Degree in Museum Science at Cooperstown, New York. After serving as Director of the Arizona State House Museum for over 25 years, he retired to Colorado Springs to pursue his love of the outdoors.

Michael was born in Monahans, Texas to Herbert Carman and Marie Noelie Carman (nee Watkins) on November 6, 1938, and grew up in West Texas.

His passions were fly fishing, jazz and reading, especially southwestern history and culture, and his love of tying dry flies.

Michael is survived by his sister, Kathy Hull of Spartanburg, South Carolina and brother, Brian Carman of Vero Beach, Florida. Michael will be sorely missed by his many friends and neighbors, especially his long-time companion, Sherry Bouquet.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held in Colorado Springs at a date to be announced.
