Pablo (Paul) Maurilio Guzman left us at the age of fifty-six years, just sixty-four days until his fifty-seventh birthday.

He was born January 3, 1964 and passed away on November 29, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his Father Maurillio A. Guzman, Mother Evelyn R. Zamora, and his dog Sneezy.  He will be joining his Uncle David Zamora, his wonderful Aunt Dorothy Zamora and his grandparents.

He passed unexpectedly in his sleep due to his sleep apnea.

He is survived by his five siblings Kris Guzman, Leslie Benavidez, Anna Marie Schrock and her husband Kevin Schrock, Elizabeth Riggs and Jennifer Guzman. He leaves behind his nephews and nieces, Isaiah Benavidez, Alec Riggs, Megean Riggs Mayfield and her husband Ian Mayfield, Johnathan Schrock and Kira Schrock.

He was a lifelong native of Colorado Springs, CO and attended Coronado High School graduating on May 31, 1983.

He worked for HP and Atmel, but Pablo was with The Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort of Colorado Springs, CO, serving as a Conference Service House Person for twenty-six years. He wanted nothing more than to return to a job he loved and see the faces he worked so many years with. At one time he told us that joy was found at a job that had the best breathtaking views in the entire state of Colorado. Pablo enjoyed working on setup at the resort, he was thankful for the job every single day. His favorite time was Christmas and the crazy number of lights, the trees, and the staff seemed more joyful and less stressed because the crazy summer tourists had stopped. On the days that it snowed, he would just stand on the back-patio deck near the pool and just breathe in the cold breeze coming off the magnificent mountain views that he worked so close to every day. He was temporarily unable to work for the resort due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was planning on returning once he was able.

However, he was able to find other employment during COVID-19 and he went to work for his long-time personal grocer which he had shopped at for more than 30 years.  He was with Kroger King Soopers family off South Academy & Hancock in Colorado Springs working as a Courtesy Clerk. He would say the best part about the job was getting the shopping carts from the parking lot because he loved the beautiful Colorado weather and views.  He was waiting for a negative a COVID-19 test to come back to return to work at Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort to safely return to work. He was grateful for the amazing people he worked with at the Kroger King Sooper family.

I once heard a man has a purpose in life. He needs a reason to get up in the morning. Paul worked diligently, honestly, and he let his action determine who he was in his life. He was a quiet and gentle force. You could tell what kind of mood he was in by looking at his face. When he came home, and he looked happy it was going to be a nice evening. When he looked grumpy, it was better to let him go inside and wind down from the day. Paul was never married. He did like helping his sister Jennifer work on a car or sit on the back porch watching his dog play. He was not a man you might meet and come to know in everyday life.  We are sad because he left us physically, but he will live on in all our thoughts and memories and how he affected our lives.

A public remembrance memorial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at The Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
