Man of Steel

April 22, 1954 – January 23, 2019

A tribute from his family:

He had big hands, thick stubby fingers and wide, strong palms.  He would squeeze your shoulders or your knee and you could feel the strength in them.

He loved to poke at you and torment you – it was one of the ways he said, “I love you!”

He was uncomfortable with the words, but he felt them, and he lived them.  Ask for a chocolate bar and he would get you the biggest one out there.  And when asked to pick up some butter for cookies, he returned with 7 boxes… another of the ways he said I love you.  He expressed his love in two words, not three, “You, too!”

He was solid – a constant, a rock around which we all whirled.  He was safe and he was strong – quick to anger but always in your court.

He worked hard and played hard and loved his beer and his mountains and his girls.  He was a good man, and our favorite hero.

Bob was the Man of Steel.   Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with such a father and husband.

So sorry to hear about Bob. I sent you an email, but it came back undeliverable. I obviously do not have your current address. He was such a great guy, and I’m sure he was so excited that you moved to the cabin. Bob was always such a caring person. Wanted to make sure everyone had what they needed. My prayers go out to you and your family that God will help you all to get through these times of adjustment and healing. My greatest sympathy to you and the girls and family.

  10. It was an honor to know Bob. I spent many an hour caving with Bob and exploring. In 2003 I was crushed in a caving accident while caving with Bob and he was key in my extrication and I have him to thank for being here today. Bob, I will miss your smiling face and always happy outlook.
