Robert Ray Wilkins, 65, passed away on May 29, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was a loving, supportive and caring husband, father and Opa.
Robert was born May 9, 1952 to Orvind Wilkins (father) and Norma (mother) in Clovis, New Mexico, and grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He proudly served in the US Army for 23 years and was a Desert Storm Veteran.
His friends and family lovingly called him Cowboy.
Robert passionately loved fishing, hunting, his family and his land.
He is survived by his loving wife, Silvia of 43 years; 4 sons: Mark and family, Doug, Joey and Anthony; 2 daughters: Kayla and Shyanne; mother, Norma; 2 brothers: Keith and family, Kenny and family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Becky; and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on June 6, 2017 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.

21 Oct 2018I feel sad and helpless as a old friend and former First Sergeant of Robert during his duty in C Troop, 1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was a first class soldier who commanded the respect of all the people he served with. Rest in peace Cowboy. Top Miller

24 Oct 2018I was the C Troop commander when Cowboy burst on the scene. He was clearly destined to be a senior NCO and I appointed him acting sergeant and lead scout because of his superior abilities even as a young man recently enlisted. Almost 20 years later we crossed paths again in Germany and I was a Colonel and Cowboy was a First Sergeant. We had a brief but grand reunion. His passing was just brought to my attention and I regret I did not know sooner. My condolences to his family… there was no finer Cavalry Scout.
