May 3, 1947 – March 5, 2019

Ronald W. Wroten passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.  He had been a local Colorado Springs area resident since 1978.

Ronald was born on May 3, 1947 to George Philip Wroten and Margaret Rhiney (Wagner) Wroten in Salisbury, Maryland.  He served his country in the United States Air Force for a brief time, before continuing his life-long love of woodworking where he was a master craftsman.

He is survived locally by his wife, Connie Wroten; two daughters: Cheryl Garduno (Bernie), and Lori Moore (John III); and five grandchildren: A. Michael Wroten, Tyler Garduno, John Moore, IV, Ryan Garduno, and Isaac Moore.  He is also survived by two brothers: George Wroten and John Wroten (Cathy) of Delaware.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Philip Wroten and Margaret Wroten; a sister, Vickie L. Cronk (Wroten); and brother, Danny Wroten.

Ron was passionate about many things in life, and this included his love for the Bible, baseball, and his family.  Being a man of faith, in 1978 he moved our family to Colorado Springs to attend the Nazarene Bible College.  Having grown up in Maryland his team has and always will be the Baltimore Orioles.  He looked forward to each new season and opening day, and would watch every game if at all possible.  He was an avid artist, who enjoyed oil painting, where he spent many hours painting beautiful sceneries of the mountains and flowing rivers. At times, he was a man with few words, and at other times had much to say. We all know that he could tell a great story, and we’ll never forget how he made us laugh!  His life will continue to live on through his family and friends.

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, SERVICES HAVE CHANGED — Visitation will now be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.  A committal service will follow. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

He will forever be missed and remain in our hearts forever – God Bless.

  4. Brother Ronnie, you were my mentor, the guy I wanted to be when I grew up! Always the prankster full of life and mischief growing up, like the time I got a toy rifle for Christmas and you showed me how to shoot Moms favorite Christmas ornaments off the tree, then handed it back to me when Mom walked in the room…lol you got me good on that one, but taught me a lesson:) I owe my love for the Art’s to you again wanting to be like you. I owe my life as a musician to you as you introduced me to playing the drums. This reminds me of a cool Country Song that sums it all up…”I’ve been watching you, now ain’t that cool I’m your Buckaroo I wanna be like you, I’ve been watching everything you do…I’ve been watching you” Thank you for being an inspiration, til’ we see each other again, Go rest high on that mountain. RIP. Your Johnny Boy
