Alice Rothe, matriarch of the Rothe family, passed on to her heavenly father on Friday, August 31, 2012. She was born on March 2, 1922 to Herbert Orrin Tiffany and Marguerite Sadden Tiffany in Nelson, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, Alice went onto Eau Claire State Teaching College obtaining her teaching degree. She taught school before marrying the love of her life, Lt. Vincent L. Rothe , on June 6, 1943.

Making the Army their lives, Alice followed her husband to his many base assignments and became involved with each new community and country they lived. While living in Tokyo, Japan, Alice learned to play bridge and next to her family that was the love of her life. She belonged to countless bridge groups and a foursome that lasted over forty years. She enjoyed doing crafts and especially making her snowflakes and scrubbies.

Alice is survived by her children: Diane L. (husband Jerry) Helmer; and Michael V. (wife Dawn) Rothe; her sisters: Evelyn Kaye; Janet Shanklin; Dolores Wise; and Marguerite Iverson; her brother: Spencer Tiffany; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Major Vincent L. Rothe (Ret.); daughter: Roberta L. Anderson; and four brothers: Scott, Buster, Bill, and Pat Tiffany.

Alice was a volunteer Sunday school teacher, visited shut-ins from the church, and volunteered at the Penrose Community Hospital. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.

Alice was a beloved mother, grandmother sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at First United Methodist Church- Chapel, 420 North Nevada Avenue. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.

Memorials in Alice’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
