Anna T. Poe, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1972. She lived her early years in Newport, Tennessee.

She was born Anna Cleo Teague on July 20, 1937, in Dandridge, Tennessee, to Edd B. and Velva Ann (Hall) Teague. Her mother died when she was two years old. Anna was raised by her father and Estelle J. (Reese) Teague, the only mother she ever knew.

She began her life of adventure as a military spouse when she married Robert V. Poe on September 9, 1957, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Robert served more than 22 years with the United States Army. During that time, Anna raised her two young children on her own when her husband was deployed twice to Vietnam and other assignments. Exciting times included a three-year deployment to Panama and travel through Central America in the family station wagon.

Her adventure continued when Robert was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado. Anna owned and operated Ann’s Sub Sandwich Shop for many years. Her shop was located near the gate of Ft. Carson, and her customers included Army soldiers stationed there. She humorously described her business as making submarines for the Army. Anna and Robert were married for 51 years until his passing in 2009.

Anna was a member of Fountain Valley Baptist Church. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.

She is survived by her daughter: Renita (husband, Andrew) Wolf of Colorado Springs; her son: Rodney (wife, Janine) Poe of Denver; her brother: Jack Teague of Prescott, Arizona; her sister: Rita (husband, Fred) Flynn of Sevierville, Tennessee; and her sister in law: Gail Teague of Newport, Tennessee. Her brother, Paul Teague, preceded her in death.

Three grandchildren also survive her: Megan (husband, Chris) Kohne, Robert (wife, Sally) Poe and Holly (husband, Joe) Park, and five great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Chelsie, Hamilton, Luna, and Hunter.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.  Private entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum’s Gate of Heaven, Garden of Faith.

The family would like to thank Robyn Parker and her team at ViewPointe Assisted Living for their loving and caring support during Anna’s last few weeks. Memorials in her memory may be made to Bethesda Ministries, 15475 Gleneagle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.
