In Loving Memory of Barbara Elizabeth Bembers
Birth: 1/3/1947 – Passed: 5/10/2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Elizabeth Bembers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, who left us peacefully on 10 May 2025 at the age of 78.
Barbara lived life with remarkable energy, purpose, and grace. A lifelong lover of the outdoors, through the years she was a long-distance runner, enjoyed hiking and bicycle riding, and was an enthusiastic explorer of nature. Her days were often spent in her backyard garden, on trails, or simply outside where she felt most alive and connected with Mother nature. Her stamina and spirit inspired those around her to embrace life with movement and joy.
She had a rare gift for transforming outdoor spaces into living sanctuaries – turning each backyard into a destination uniquely suited to the land and climate. Her hands shaped beauty from the soil and her soul, and her eye for creative detail brought harmony and life to every nook and cranny she touched in her gardens.
Barbara lived not only with strength of body but with depth of soul. A spiritual person, she found peace and meaning in quiet reflection, natural beauty, and the rhythms of life. Her spirit was evident in the way she loved others and lived with humility, compassion, and gratitude.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Martin Bembers; her loving children, Ivan Bembers and Christine Bunch; and her adored grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her extended family, including siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Barbara will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on—in her gardens, in nature, in moments of quiet wonder, and in the hearts of all who knew her.
A private service will be held at a later time for family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to plant something in her honor or spend time in nature, where her spirit will always be present.

23 May 2025Barbara was an inspiration…always with humor and good heart. She will live in my heart forever. I planted a fig tree the very next day and it has already sprouted new leaves. Her green thumb is somehow involved.

4 Jun 2025I am so sad to hear of Barb’s passing. We worked closely together for 6 years, and I learned so much from her. She was such an inspiration, had a calming spirit, thoughtful and loving. I was amazed at her ability to make gardens wherever she lived. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
My prayer is for comfort and peace for Martin, Christine, Ivan and families.
