Barbara Ruth (Brubaker) Singmaster – January 1, 2026

Barbara Ruth (Brubaker) Singmaster, age 88, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on August 31, 1937, to Ruth (Adams) and Chelse Brubaker. She lived in Haswell, Colorado until she was ten years old, when her family moved to Colorado Springs, where she lived the majority of her life. Barbara was married to Donald (Don) Singmaster on June 23, 1956. They lived together in Midland, Texas for two and a half years, before moving back to Colorado Springs. Barbara was a graduate of Colorado Springs High School and Blair Business College. She worked for Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG) and the CPA firms of Trichak, Trainor, and Tillman, Fox and Company, Jim Furlong CPA, and Moellar, Osborne, Parsons, and Rosacker.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don.

She is survived by her sons: Steven (Toni) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Scott (Lynda) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her daughter, Susan (Doug) Murray of Wakita, Oklahoma. She was the beloved “Nana” to her grandchildren: Lauren (Logan) Singmaster Wieland of Eagle River, Alaska, Allison (Nick) (Singmaster) Hasling of Anthony, Kansas, Matthew (Krista) Broker of Peyton, Colorado, Alexis (Peter) Serff of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and ten great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Colorado Springs for 78 years, United Methodist Women in Faith Nightingale Circle, Elks B.P.O.E. 309, Friends of the Pioneer Museum, El Paso County Pioneers Association, and Colorado Springs High School/Palmer Alumni Association. Barbara passed several rigorous tests to earn the title of Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) as a member of the Colorado/Wyoming/Montana CPS Division and was a member of the Professional Secretaries International, where she served as the president of the divisions. She was an avid and enthusiastic fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado College hockey team.

Visitation will be at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 420 North Nevada Avenue, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to First United Methodist Church’s United Women in Faith, 420 North Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
