Bernice “Bea” Forsythe – August 5, 2025

Bernice “Bea” Forsythe, 94, passed away on August 5, 2025. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 55 years, and was formerly a resident of Arlington, Virginia. She was previously a retail manager and owner of a bridal business in Colorado Springs.

Bea was born in 1931 to Eugene Glass and Addie (Hicks) Glass in Sand Hill, Kentucky. In 1948 she married Ralph Forsythe in Franklin, Kentucky. Being a military wife, she soon found her love for traveling. Bea loved antiques, especially Asian antiques. She quickly became a dealer doing local shows while still working as a retail manager for J.C. Penney’s at the newly opened Citadel Mall. After retiring from J.C. Penney’s, she started traveling to shows in Texas, Kansas and western Colorado.

After the passing of her husband, Ralph, she joined the “Friendship Force” and “Sister Cities” organizations so that she could travel, and travel she did. She criss-crossed the globe and made many new, lifelong friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Newbern (Jeff); 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and two sons, Jeff and John.

A funeral will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow from 2:00-4:30PM at the Olympian Plaza Reception Center located conveniently across the street.
