February 10, 1930 – August 6, 2021

Betty Rose Bencich, age 91, passed away August 6, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. She was born February 10, 1930, in Girard, Kansas to Matt and Victoria Salzman. She was their only child. She had no children.

She was best known to many people as “Aunt Betty” as evidenced by the love of others to be part of her family. Words such as grace, beautiful, kind, charitable, positive, quality, loving, listener, funny, adventurous, loyal, Catholic, faithful, family, humble, are just a few words to describe her amazing personality. She loved conversation, reminiscing, old movies, dancing (polka and ballroom) and songs by Frank Sinatra.

Betty graduated from high school and proceeded with college. She worked as a Pension Specialist for the United States Civil Service and formerly worked in journalism for the Alexander Film Company in Colorado Springs.

She was a longtime resident of Colorado and loved to travel throughout the state, particularly the mountains. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church in Denver. Betty played the piano beautifully and was involved in bands earlier in her life and continued to play at family gatherings with her father on the saxophone and other family on the accordion and violin. She also greatly loved her cat, Shadow, a longtime, faithful companion.

Betty married John Bencich in 1961 in Denver, Colorado. John preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by her nieces, Robin Supinger and Sara Supinger and her nephews: Brandon Supinger (Amy, wife), Gavin Supinger (Samantha, wife, Everly, daughter), Marvin Bencich, and Mike Bencich.

A Catholic funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Garden of Angels Mausoleum, together with her husband.
