Billie Jean Searcy-Jones was brought to earth June 11, 1936.  She was born from the loving union of Charlie Searcy Sr. and Cannie Lee McCrimmon Searcy in Limestone County, Texas.

She attended elementary schools in Billington, TX and Axtell, TX.  She graduated from Phyllis Wheatly High School in Hubbard, TX in 1953.

As a young child growing up around the various farms she chopped and picked cotton alongside her other siblings.

She joined Mt. Hope Baptist Church at an early age in Mt. Calm, TX.  She served as an usher, participated in the various services, Sunday School, and Baptist Training Union.  The family did not own a car, therefore she walked approximately 2 ½ miles to these services. In 1954, she met the love of her life Frank Jones, Jr. an airman stationed at James Connelly Air Force Base in Waco, TX and they were married in November 1955.

While living on base Billie went to McClennan Community College where she learned how to type and write shorthand.

After living on base for two years, Frank was deployed to England and they travelled to several countries, France, Germany and Italy and then transferred back stateside to Colorado Springs, CO where Frank retired and Billie continued to work for Hewlett-Packard until retirement where she cared for her sick husband for 11 ½ years until his death in 2001.

Aunt Billie was honest, kind and always a lady. She loved her family and was always helping them financially if needed, if not she was a sounding board and always had words of encouragement to get us through the rough times.

We thank God for lending her to us this long. Even though we will miss her dearly, she was a blessing to each of us. We will always remember her in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Connie; father, Charlie; husband, Frank; siblings: Tommie, James, Camille, Orean, Frank, Ina Joyce, and Charlie; niece, LaTorsha Hawthorne; nephews: James Hawthorn Jr., Dameian Daniels; and grandnephew, Devan Joseph Daniels.

She is survived by Beverly Daniels, Spanaway, WA; Carla Fields, Temple, TX; Stephanie Fields, Dallas, TX; Jacquelyn Williams, Upper Marlboro, MD; Tammy and Kimberly Hawthorne, Lubbock, TX; Sue Kimpton, Spokane, WA; Lisa Still, Moses Lake, WA; nephews: Leslie Thompson, Hercules, CA, Richard Thompson, Sacramento, CA, Andrew Horton, Jr. Livermore, CA, David Simmons, Seattle, WA, Jerome Whitmore, Kent, WA, Mark Simmons, Alexander Hts., Australia, Dominique Daniels, Roy, WA, Demetrius Daniels, Tacoma, WA, Brian Hawthorne, Lubbock, TX and a host of other nieces, nephews and great grandnieces.

This Obituary Has One Condolence

  1. All of her Total Body Fitness Friends at the Air Force Academy knew her as Miss Biillie. She always showed up at Emily’s class with full make up and a coordinated exercise outfit, as well as a big smile. We loved Miss Billie and will miss her and her kind heart.
