Carla L. Ferch, age 78, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her home after a battle with cancer. She was a data entry operator for the U.S. Air Force, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Carla Luane Bruns was born on September 17, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a 1951 graduate of Godwin High School in Grand Rapids, served her country in the United States Air Force, and married Ray Aaron Ferch on September 27, 1952 at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.
Carla was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, reading, camping, traveling, and was an avid Rockies Baseball fan. She will be best remembered for her gentle spirit.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth (husband, Paul) Ostrowski of Tucson, Arizona, and Joann (husband, Larry) Davis of LaMirada, California; and her sister, Irene Bruns of Colorado Springs. She has three grandchildren, one great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nephews. Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Bruns; father, Frederick Bruns; sisters, Elma Bruns and Laurna Bruns; and her brother, Monte Bruns.
Committal services with Air Force Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance Veterans Honor Court. Memorial services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2226 North Corona Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. A reception will follow at Crusader Hall at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
