Carlos Spencer, age 60, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Carlos’s biggest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and his five daughters: Stephanie Montoya, Angela Whittaker (husband Christopher), Amaya Spencer, Jasmine Spencer Roybal (husband Tracy), and Hope Spencer. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren: Nathaniel, Trevor, Donovan Alyceah Teya, Dominic, Alayah, Brandon, Caydn Anthony, Amillio, Madianna, Angelica, Enrique, and Armando; father, Sydney Charles Spencer: sisters, Sonia Doucet (husband Philip) and Pamela Spencer; many loved nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Marie Louise Maestas; and much more extended family.
Carlos is preceded in death by his mother, Maria De Los Angeles Erice Gonzalez-Spencer; father-in-law, Albert Amado Maestas; son-in-law, Solomon Montoya; and grandchildren, Hazzel and Vincent Roybal.

Carlos carried a deep love and pride for his culture of being Basque. He would share stories with anyone who would listen about his home and traditions he carried with him and left with his daughters to share. Carlos loved to make people laugh with his crazy and loving sense of humor. He held his loyalty to his family tight and made sure each of his daughters knew just how much he loved them.

Carlos carried the love and habit for building saltwater fish tanks. That became his passion. His warm embrace for his family will always remain in our hearts. Carlos’s quick-witted nature was contagious, and his smile and laughter brightened up any room he walked into. Carlos was a man who lived life with laughter, grit, and a heart full of love. Known for his sharp wit and the ability to make anyone laugh even in the hardest moments, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Carlos will be remembered for his love and his hard work, as well as for his love of his Broncos, music, and movies, and his willingness to give with no hesitation or complaint. He will be remembered for his strength in facing life’s trials, for the way he showed up even when it wasn’t easy, for the fierce unforgettable love he gave to those around him. His stories, laughter, and legacy will echo through generations. Carlos will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a committal at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
