Cathy was born on September 24th, 1947 to James R. VanSlambrouck & June L. (Maloche) in Monroe, MI. Oldest of 8, she was raised on the shores of Lake Erie before the family moved into town to be closer to the action of what a busy family entail. She married Randall “Randy” A. Cathy loved to read, sing, and play board games; she was a champion at word games. She dabbled in the arts, often sharing her creations with others. In addition to her career as a loving homemaker, which spanned a lifetime, Cathy had a few careers that brought joy to others. From Nurse’s Aide, to Campfire Director, to Tupperware Manager, to Catholic Liturgist, she always found ways to make peoples’ lives better.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael VanSlambrouck; and her grandson, Andrew Michael King.

We will be honoring Cathy with a Vigil at 6:30 p.m. on November 2nd and a Memorial Mass on November 3rd at 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life. Everything will take place at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 8755 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920. This Obituary Has 6 Condolences

  1. May your family find comfort as “the hearer of prayer” embraces their heart. Lean on one another for strength and encouragement to stay strong during this most difficult time.

  2. I send my condolence to Cathy’s family. I met her in the late 60’s before she married my brother. She had an interest in God’s Word, the Bible. May her memories help all of you. ‘A grand future awaits!’

  3. My heart and prayers go out to the Barrett family. I never had an opportunity to meet Cathy this side of Heaven but know she is well loved by Randy and her family. She will be missed greatly.

  4. So glad we had a chance to reconnect as cousins when I moved to the Springs. Cathy had a big heart and loved her family dearly. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Praying for peace and comfort for her family.

  5. Randy and family – I am deeply saddened by the news of Cathy’s passing. May the fond memories of Cathy bring you comfort during this hard time in your life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  6. Randy, I am really sorry to hear Cathy is gone. Dianne and really enjoyed knowing you two when we were at Peterson and in the Pikes Peak Council. I hadn’t realized we had so much in common, age and marriage length especially. I was born in 1947, Dianne in in 1948, and we also married in 1969. I know there will be a hole in your life, but hold onto the good memories you and she made together. I hope you and your family will find comfort in each other and in those memories.
