
Danita Ann Hundley, 70, passed away on February 26, 2026. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 40 years, amidst time overseas and on the East Coast due to Air Force deployment.
Danita was born on July 10, 1955, in Raywood, Texas, to Mary Rose and Thomas Joseph Medina. She entered active duty in the Air Force at the age of 19. She would go on to serve over 30 years in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve. She met David Reed Hundley during her Air Force career and they were married in Alabama in 1979.
She is survived by her son, Brett Hundley; her daughter, Brooke Hundley; her grandson, Colton Underwood; her brother, Thomas Medina; and her sister, Delores Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hundley.
Danita leaves a lasting legacy as an active Catholic church community member with St. Gabriel of the Archangel, the Daughters of Mary, and numerous volunteer projects. She also enjoyed visiting St. Joseph Catholic Church to hear Father Gus Stewart’s inspirational homilies. In life she supported such charities as National Mill Dog Rescue, ASPCA, Humane Society, Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, Care and Share, Pikes Peak Library District and others. In lieu of flowers, donations to any of these groups are welcome.
In life, she fought for the underdog and always tried to step in for those being taken advantage of. She tried to make the world a better place through volunteering, acts of service, and cooking for others. She was a fighter to the end. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family and her strong circle of friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 16th at St. Gabriel the Archangel, 8755 Scarborough Dr, Colorado Springs CO 80920; with a rosary beginning at 9:30am, and a reception to follow the Mass.
