1976 – 2025
David Stassen, age 48, went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2025, after facing cancer with faith and strength.
David was a caring and loyal man who valued tradition and deeply honored his family. He was born on November 6, 1976, in Minnesota to his parents, Patrick and Judith Stassen. Though he never forgot his Midwest roots, David developed a lasting love for Colorado Springs after moving there at a young age.
As a boy, he enjoyed building with Legos and playing Nintendo, and even taught himself to program his own games on the Commodore 64. As an adult, he pursued his passions for technology, end-times scripture, and natural healthcare.
David married Rachel Walsh from Newfoundland, Canada, and together they were blessed with three children — Curtis, RaeAnna, and Norah. They raised their family with joy and a strong commitment to God until a sudden health crisis took Rachel’s life after 18 years of marriage. In time, David found new love with Rose Lina Castro, and the two were married in May 2025. Sadly, his own health challenges took him from this world just a few months later. David is deeply missed, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
David is survived by his wife, Rose Lina Castro; his children, Curtis, RaeAnna, and Norah; his step-son, Nolan Tack; his mother, Judith Stassen; his sister, Emily Hillen (partner, Marcus Onvani); his brother, Eric Stassen (Chrissy); his nephew, Caden; and his niece, Evelyn.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Castro, and members of his late wife Rachel’s family: Hayward and Verna Walsh, Terri Grothe (Andrew), Mike Walsh (Chantel), Brooke Grothe, and Sadie Walsh, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Stassen, and his late wife, Rachel Stassen.
Services will be held on November 3, 2025, at Heritage Pentecostal Church, 2950 Monica Drive W, Colorado Springs, CO 80916. Visitation will take place from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to Heritage Pentecostal Church. Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice at pikespeakhospice.org.
