Delayne Goss

“Delayne” Goss, age 90, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1974 and formerly of North Dakota and Washington State, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at a local care center. She was retired and had been a bank teller in Seattle, an Air Force wife, a mother, grandmother and church volunteer.

Sarah Delayne Pomeroy was born on August 1, 1923 in Cleveland, North Dakota to the late Ward and Stella (Dahlstrom) Pomeroy. She attended schools in Washington State including Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She married Arthur L. Goss on May 11, 1944 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Delayne was very active in various ministries at Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed her friendships, travel, gardening, nature and its scenery. She loved the mountains of Colorado and autumn drives to view the turning of the aspen trees. She will best be remembered for her singing, which highlighted her faith, and her love of the beauty in nature, the ocean, and their home in Hawaii.

She is survived by her loving husband, LTC Arthur L. Goss USAFR (Ret.) of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren: Jacqueline Jones of Booneville, Missouri, Jeffrey Ward (and Heidi) Goss of Overland Park, Kansas, and Jonathan (and Brennan) Goss of Kansas City, Missouri. Delayne is also survived by her sister, Dianna (and George) Harter of University Place, Washington. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Goss of Marshall, Missouri; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Arthur Goss, who died in November of 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Ward Pomeroy and Gerald Pomeroy.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1128 E. Boulder Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Luncheon Reception will follow the services at the Church. Private inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Church or to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation.
