Delbert Murray Rounds was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 7, 1931 to Clarence and Della Rounds. He passed away on March 9, 2020. He grew up in Kansas City and joined the United States Marine Reserves in 1947 eventually joining the United States Army on October 28, 1948. His first assignment was in 1950 as part of the Berlin Airlift after World War II. He returned to Fitzsimmons in Denver as a medic where he met his wife Anna Mae Borga, marrying on June 20, 1952. He served at Fort Carson, Fort Worth Texas and a second tour in Germany (Stuttgart, Munich and Frankfurt). He went to Korea from 1958 to 1959, Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and retired at Fort Carson on October 31, 1968. He joined Met Life and retired in 1988.

   He had a lifetime of interest in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling and was a regular in Cripple Creek for many years. He enjoyed playing the piano and harmonica. Family was the most important part of our Dad’s life, he was a committed father and husband, with an everlasting passion for his friends and extended family.

   He is preceded in death by his wife Annie, brother Ernie Rounds, sister Dorothy Cramer, granddaughter Ashley Petratis, and Raychele Rounds. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Newton and children: Cathy (Harry) Knight, Mary Ann Petratis, Ed (Kristin) Rounds, Carol (Tom) Carle, Sara (Evan) Evans, Del (Lisa) Rounds, Donald, 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

   A visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
