Diana Raye Mulholland, or Raye, as her family and friends knew her, passed away at age 90, on November 20, 2025. She was a 42-year resident of Colorado Springs and was formerly a resident of Playa Del Rey, California, and Mercer Island, Washington.
Raye was born on April 19, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, to Asa Cottington and Bertha Hagan Cottington.
She graduated from High School in Stanhope, Iowa, and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where she was so loved that she was elected homecoming queen. On July 7, 1968, she married Michael Robert Mulholland, in Los Angeles, California.
Growing up an Iowa farm girl, she always raised and loved riding horses and had many pets, from ponies to parakeets, and they always had a small family dog.
Her passion for helping children feel loved and for music led her to found and direct the Mercer Island Children’s Choir near Seattle, Washington, with eighty 10–12-year-olds, singing together in beautiful harmony.
She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Raye dedicated herself to serving God, and always welcomed visitors and guests with open arms. She enjoyed entertaining and hosting alongside her husband – they lodged more than 20 long-term guests and literally hundreds of short stays and Airbnbs, with love and hospitality, during their lifetime.
She is survived by her children: Sean (and Larissa) Mulholland, Kelly (and Kate) Mulholland, and Casey (and Brian) James; her sister, Sue Miller; her grandchildren: Dylan, Vianna, Sophia, Zalie, and Raven; and her precious new great-granddaughter, Naomi.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ardean Cottington; her sister, Betty Berry; and her parents, Asa and Bertha Cottington. Her husband, Mike Mulholland, joined her in death on December 4, 2025.
Celebration of life services will be held for both Raye and Mike at 10:30AM, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4040 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917.
Memorials in Raye’s name may be made to Village Seven Presbyterian Church.

This is Marsha and Bill Dykshorn. Mullholand family we send our sympathies. Raye and Marsha were good buddies. She played Fr Horn with her in the orchestra. She hosted many of Marsha’s Moms In Prayer events. Raye, Marsha’s mom, Carol, and I went to Morningside College. Both Raye and Mike were such Joy-filled Godly examples and mentors. 🙌✝️
