Donald “Donnie” Wakefield, age 76, died April 14 ,2020. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, CO since 1972. He was retired.
Mr. Wakefield was born November 18, 1943 to J. T and Trudy Wakefield in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Donnie was married July 2, 1987 to Thalia Goolsby Jacobs in Mt. Pleasant.
Donnie was extremely fond of fishing and hunting. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Colorado Springs. Donnie was a 1962 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Mt. Pleasant, TX. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thalia; his children, Marlene Wakefield, Darlene Wakefield, Michael Wakefield; step-daughter, Sherri Jacobs; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his sisters, Martha Blades and Wanda Wakefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Trudy Wakefield; step-mother, Claudia Wakefield; sister, Peggy Smith; and brother, Charles Wakefield.
A private family service/ burial will be held at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
