Eddie Lou Kinney, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away on December 16, 2025, just days after celebrating his 94th birthday. A resident of Palmer Lake, Colorado, Eddie was born on December 11, 1931, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Louis Lee and Ethel Irene Kinney.
Eddie’s life was defined by a profound sense of duty. After serving two years in the reserves during high school, he dedicated 28 years to the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. His career of service continued through roles with Lockheed Martin, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Palmer Lake Sanitation District.
On June 18, 1953, Eddie married the love of his life, Colleen. Together, they built a family founded on devotion and hard work. When he wasn’t working, Eddie was happiest in the fresh air—whether he was camping, fishing, hunting, or meticulously tending to his yard. He was also a passionate fan of hockey.
In his retirement, Eddie remained an active pillar of his community. He spent much of his time volunteering with organizations that reflected his values, including the Freemasons, Sertoma, and the American Legion.
Eddie was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Caldwell; and his sisters, Hazel Heil and Pearl Rembold. His legacy lives on through his beloved wife of 72 years, Colleen Kinney; his son, Terry Kinney; his six grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925. Please arrive by 11:45 AM to gather in the designated staging area before the service begins.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the funeral service from 1:00-3:00PM at the Black Forest Brewing Company located at 11590 Black Forest Road Ste. 50, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908.

Dad we miss you so much. May you rest in peace in Gods hands.
Our Prayers and thoughts are with the whole family.
