Eldon W. Dickens Sr. was born November 30, 1923 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He passed away on March 27, 2012 at his home in Colorado Springs.
Eldon served in the U.S. Army Engineers in Europe during World War II. He was called into the ministry of Community of Christ and was a missionary and administrative officer for 34 years until his retirement in 1988. He served in the North Central United States, Alaska, and Canada. He finished his ministry in Denver and retired to Colorado Springs.
Eldon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Larrabee Dickens, and children Eldon Jr., John (Ellen), Cecilia Norvell (Rod), and Brian (LA), and four grandchildren, Matt and Andy Dickens, Valerie LaPlant (Carl), and Gwen Norvell.
He was preceded in death by his father John, mother Bertha, son Timothy, and daughter Pamela.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 30, 2012 at Community of Christ, 2502 Palmer Park Boulevard, Colorado Springs.
