Elizabeth (Betty) Kennedy passed away quietly Sunday morning, October 25, 2015. Betty was born in Kansas City, MO on November 15, 1928, the only child to John J.J. and Mamie E. (Walker) Stephens.

She married John R. Mallon April 15, 1948, who preceded her in death. They had 3 children.

Betty lived much of her adult life in Tulsa, OK. She moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1990 where she met and married Col. William (Bill) N. Kennedy January 15, 1994. Bill preceded her in death December 13, 2014.

She was an avid duplicate bridge player for more than 50 years achieving Gold Life Master, reflecting experience, skill and level of competition. Betty was a longtime devoted Denver Bronco fan and the Triple Crown was an annual event upon which she looked forward to placing a wager. She was an excellent cook and she and Bill enjoyed hosting parties.

Betty is survived by: her loving children, son Michael Mallon and wife Marnele, Colorado Springs, CO; son John R. Mallon Jr., Kissimmee, FL; daughter Kim Snow, Bristow, OK; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; stepchildren Lynn Kennedy Baxter, Woodland Park, CO; Vivian Brailoff, Walnut Creek, CA; and Russell Kennedy, Bethany, OK.

Her family and friends will miss her charm, grace and wit.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs. A reception will be held after the service at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 1 S. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
