Enid L. Perkins, age 102, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1956 and formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Robin’s Nest Assisted Living Center in Colorado Springs. She had retired after working as a clerk at Ent Air Force Base and was the chief cashier at the Peterson Field Commissary.
Enid Lucile Hicks was born on September 18, 1909 in Davenport to Edson and Jennie (Drebing) Hicks. She was a 1927 graduate of Davenport High School. She married, raised a family and moved to Colorado Springs with her three children. She attended First Church of Christ Scientist. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, bowling, dancing, and traveling.
She is survived by her three children: Virginia Minser (and Robert) of Cedar Hill, New Mexico; Raymond Perkins (and Sharon) of Colorado Springs; and Marilyn Wagers (and Donald) of Colorado Springs. She has six grandchildren: Deborah, Dale, Bobby, Julie, Gary, and Scott. Enid is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Robin Hicks; a grandson: Danny; and a great-great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Chapel. Graveside services are planned for 11:15 a.m. on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, 1000 South 26th Street.
