Ennis Cox
November 22, 1920 – March 17, 2014

Ennis Cox, 93, passed away on March 17, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 2 years and formerly lived in Midland, Texas for 38 years where he was a petroleum engineer for Exxon until he retired in 1982.

Born in Rockport, Missouri on November 22, 1920; Ennis was the only child of Dell Ennis Cox and Tempa Elizabeth (Gaskill) Hancock. He married Lucille Irene Morgan in El Dorado, Kansas, on October 21, 1945.

Ennis is survived by his son, Eugene Brian Cox; daughter, Debra (David) Hansen; one granddaughter, Melissa Anne (John) Trovas; and three great grandchildren, Stephanie Kalene Cox, John Alexander Trovas, and Nikolas Andrew Trovas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years.

After attending Perdue University, he graduated from the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (now known as Oklahoma State University). Ennis served in the Army Air Corps for two and a half years during WWII; flying B-17’s. He spent 20 months as a POW in Germany after being shot down. He was awarded the Bronze Service Star, the Air Medal, and the EAME Theatre Medal.

Golf and bridge were his favorite pastimes which he enjoyed into his 90’s. He was also an avid reader and loved to travel.
