Erma Gorwoda died on June 3, 2014. She was born on May 22, 1942 on the family farm in Oklahoma. She was the middle child of George and Esther Miller. Her sister and brother, Kathryn and George Miller Jr. preceded her in death. Erma went on to nursing school and graduated in 1955 at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Erma moved to Colorado Springs in 1958 and worked at Penrose Hospital as an RN for over 30 years. Erma married James F. Murphy in 1964 and stayed married until his death in 1977. She remarried in 1982 to Karl “Woody” Gorwoda. Erma Stayed married to Woody until his death from Alzheimers in 2006.
Erma is survived by her son James Murphy, her daughter in law Julie Gorwoda, and granddaughter Alexa Gorwoda. Also are her nieces Kay Smith, Judy Jefferies, and Connie Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Cathedral with a Rosary at 9:30 am.
Entombment in the Garden of Angels, Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.
