Estrella (Estelle) Garcia Hernandez
July 15, 1915 – October 21, 2012
Estelle was born in Cuba to Antonio LaRue Guilarte and Guillermia Garcia.
She was a nurse at Rochester, New York Psychiatric Center for many years until her retirement on July 18, 1977, when she moved to Colorado Springs. Estelle was a devout Catholic, attending Holy Apostles Church every Sunday until her declining health made it too difficult. Being very independent, she kept her own house for thirty-three years.
Estelle was preceded in passing by her husband, Louis Hernandez, and her only child, Nelyda (Nellie) Hernandez-Whaley.
A visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Athena.
