Eva Lou Ruybal Dyke, 87, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on April 24, 2025. Born on April 26, 1937, in Antonito, Colorado, Eva was the cherished daughter of Martin and Rafelita (Lujan) Ruybal. She was raised in a loving home alongside five brothers and one sister, grounded in the strength of a close-knit family and deep-rooted traditions.

Eva embraced life’s simple joys. She was most at home in the kitchen, where she delighted in cooking and baking for family and friends—every meal an act of love. With a camera always nearby, she became the family’s memory keeper, preserving the beauty of everyday moments. She had a special fondness for owls and clocks, symbols of her gentle wisdom and her deep appreciation for time and the stories it holds.

Eva is survived by her devoted husband, Sidney Alan Dyke, with whom she shared a beautiful and fulfilling life. Together, they cherished a blended family of six children: Janice Thompson of Warsaw, MO; Victor Argo (Karen) of Aurora, IL; John Romero (Kristine) of Chandler, AZ; Timothy Romero of Colorado Springs, CO; Darren Dyke (Aurelie) of Brussels, Belgium; and Lena Fielding (Timothy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each one dear to her heart. Eva’s kind spirit, unwavering love, and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917, with a reception to follow in the church basement. Live streaming will be available at the following link.

Inurnment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites others to honor Eva’s memory by spending time with loved ones, sharing a home-cooked meal, or capturing a moment in a photograph—just as she always did.
