Faasalafa Sio Forney – February 6, 2026

Faasalafa Sio Forney known as Salafa, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2026. She lived in Colorado Springs for  35+ years and spent her earlier years in California, Hawaii, and American Samoa.

Faasalafa was born on November 25, 1949, to Alefosio Saipaia and Talo Saipaia in Futiga, American Samoa. She moved to Hawaii in 1963 and graduated from Farrington High School in 1968. On December 31, 1970, she married Jarold Deen Forney in Honolulu, Oahu.

The strong foundation of love and family instilled in her by her parents shaped her life. She was devoted to passing those values on and worked to ensure they continued through future generations, emphasizing the importance of AIGA (family).

Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Salafa was incredibly proud of each of them and treasured every moment spent watching them grow, learn, and succeed. Nothing made her happier than being a part of their lives. Spending time with family was one of the most important things to Salafa. From playing family softball when she was young to watching her kids and grandkids compete. Salafa herself was a fierce competitor, an ace on the volleyball court and a striker on the lanes.

She found comfort in a good book and looked forward to her daily phone calls with loved ones. Her fun-loving spirit and well-known generosity touched the lives of so many and will be remembered always. Her kindness was a spark that will be missed but never forgotten.

Salafa is survived by her husband, Jarold; their children: Teddy, Terry (Melissa), Michael (Pauline) and Blaine (Ruby); her siblings: Mele, Faia, Paepae, Iva, and Malia; her grandchildren: Alan, Emmerson, Teri, Jasie, Mikeila, Mikolo Sio, Manaia, Myalani, Mylei’Line, Diego, Alefosio, Iosefa, Nehemiah, Talo, Nala, and Lanaia. She was preceded in death by her parents Alefosio and Talo Saipaia; brothers, Ia and Sio Jr.; sisters: Legoga, Fia, and Kalala.

A viewing will be held at 10:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80910. A reception will be held immediately following the service from 12:00-1:30PM at The Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.

She lived fully, loved deeply, and she leaves a lasting legacy that will continue through her family.
