Florence “Flossie” Margaret Martin McNally, 85, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Colorado Springs following a lengthy illness.
Flossie was born in Kenmore, New York, to Jessie Mae Bell Martin and Herbert John Martin, Jr. on February 16, 1940. She was raised in Kenmore (near Buffalo), New York, until she moved to New York City to go to college. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. For a number of years, she was a Flight Attendant for Pan American Airways, travelling the world in the 1960s. This is where she met her husband of 55 years, Bruce Edward McNally, who also worked for Pan Am. She often offered her nursing skills to locals who were their neighbors overseas.
Being heavily involved in developing local and national special education and general education policy, she was the National PTA President in Washington State for many years. Through her work at the National Capitol, she was able to meet and work with President Ronald Reagan and worked with the development of the two federal Special Education laws, the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and the 504 Plan.
She was always active in the community wherever she lived, with many civic organizations, including, but not limited to, Women’s Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Ladies Oriental Shrine, American Association of University Women (50 years), Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, AIDS projects, the Hashtag Harriers, the World Affairs Council, and many others.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Joseph Taylor-McNally, as well as his wife and three sons of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Edward McNally; her parents, Jessie Mae Bell Martin and John Herbert Martin, Jr; her son, Michael Stephen McNally; and her brother, Donald Martin.
A hybrid (online and in-person) memorial service is, at this printing, being planned for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Noon MST in Colorado Springs. This special service will also honor and commemorate Bruce Edward McNally (passed away 2018), Jessie Mae Bell Martin (passed away 2017) and Michael Stephen McNally (passed away 2016), as no official memorial services/funerals were held for any of them previously.
The family plans on posting photos and memories on Mike’s and Flossie’s Facebook pages.
Flossie will be interred with her husband, Bruce, at Tahoma National Cemetery, in Tacoma, Washington.
