Fred Charles Piazza – June 22, 2025

Frederick Charles Piazza passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Fred was born on March 5, 1945, in San Francisco, California, to Paul and Juanita (Daykin) Piazza. He grew up in the Bay Area and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Ann George, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mountain View. In 1980, they moved to Colorado, where they spent the remainder of their 62 loving years together.

Fred had a sharp mind and a natural affinity for math and problem-solving. He studied engineering and began his professional journey at Go Power in Palo Alto, California. Known for his meticulous planning and precise execution, Fred applied these traits both professionally and personally – whether working on home projects, tuning up his cars, or tending to his yard. He also pursued a wide range of interests throughout his life, including martial arts (kung fu), skiing, and cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49ers.

His career brought the family to Colorado, where he worked for Super Flow and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains. He shared that love with his family, often taking them skiing across the state. Fred was deeply involved in his community – serving for many years in the Men’s Club and as an usher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He and Betty were longtime members of the Italian cultural club, where they formed cherished friendships and traveled extensively with fellow members.

Fred maintained an active lifestyle well into his later years, enjoying racquetball, golf and a passion for both mountain and road biking, which he continued faithfully into his early 70s. He was a man of integrity – ambitious, dependable, and fair. Above all, Fred was devoted to his wife, Betty and took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Fred is survived by his wife, Betty (George) Piazza; daughter, Lori (Piazza) Gigantelli and her husband, Jim; son, Michael Piazza and his wife, Kristi; grandchildren: Marissa Gigantelli, William Gigantelli, Emery Gigantelli, Elina Gigantelli, Kady Barstow, Maggie Piazza, Molly Piazza; and great-grandchildren: Josie Barstow and Henry Barstow; and brothers, Paul Piazza, Gary Piazza, Earl Pidcock and Eddie Pidcock.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service celebrating Fred’s life will be held on Friday, September 5, at 5:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow at 6:30 pm at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, 1805 Briargate Parkway, Colorado Springs. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring Fred’s memory.

Fred hired me at SuperFlow as an assembler and delivery driver back in 1984. I credit Fred with challenging me to further my education which ultimately led to where I am today. Fred was good to me and believed in me when he really didn’t have to. I’m thankful for the years I sat under his management. To Betty, Mike, Lori, and surrounding family, I am terribly sorry for your loss…

I love the picture as it shows him full of life and vigor. The little time I knew Fred his determination, tenacity, and never-give-up attitude was impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the little friendship that my dad (Tim) and Fred had at Morningstar. My dad would always stop and talk to Fred, encouraging him, and congratulating him on how far he “walked”. I will never forget Fred as he allowed me to see my dad act in ways I had never seen before. Thoughts and prayers to all who loved and will miss him.
