Gary Paul Piel, age 81, passed away on October 9, 2018. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 42 years and was formerly a resident of Washington D.C. He was a Computer Software Support Specialist.
Gary was born on July 21, 1937 to Sylvester Daniel Piel and Mary Ann (Hofierka) Piel in Milwaukee, WI. On March 30, 1959, he married Patricia Rae (Darling) Piel in Coeur d’ Alene, ID.
Gary was fond of hunting. He also enjoyed bowling, and had an appreciation for wood working. He was a longtime member and usher of Village Seven Presbyterian Church and attended Pius XI High School, and graduated in 1955. He served in the United States Air Force, for 26 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children: Mark, Mike, and Melissa; his grandchildren: Paul, Sarah, Aaron, Garrett, Chad, Sydney, and Lindsey; and his great-grandchildren: Parker, Johnathan, Addilynn, Emma, and Nora. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Craig Piel.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with service at 2:00 p.m. and reception to follow at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4055 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, CO 80917.
