Genevieve (Genny) Rose Buresh, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on January 17, 2016. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1965 and, along with her husband, was the former owner of the local petroleum businesses Chief Petroleum and Chief Petrocard for many years, as well as a retired school teacher.

Genevieve was born on April 30, 1923 to Louis Hoffman, Sr. and Delia (Roszicy) Hoffman in Seward, Nebraska. She married her husband, Leonard L. Buresh, in Bee, Nebraska on August 8, 1946.

Genny was fond of cooking, polka dancing and playing the piano. She also loved being a mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, as well as a loving wife to her husband, Leonard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Leonard L. Buresh; her children: Larry P. Buresh (Colorado Springs), Diane K. Ziemer-Hodgins and son-in-law William B. Hodgins (Colorado Springs); her grandchildren: Clayton Z. Ziemer (Denver), Amanda V. Ziemer (Colorado Springs), and Rachael A. Ziemer (Tampa, Florida); sister-in-law, Allison Hoffman (North Platte, Nebraska); nephews: Jerry Hoffman (New York), and Douglas Hoffman (North Platte, Nebraska); and niece, Joy Hoffman (Omaha, Nebraska). Genny was preceded in death by her parents: Delia and Louis Hoffman, Sr., and brothers: Jerome and Louis “Butch” Hoffman, Jr.

Genny was a long time charter member of the International Polka Club, member of the local Czech Club, Czech Dance Group and choir, as well as the Catholic Church.

She attended the Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, earning her teaching certificate, and went on to teach children age kindergarten through the 8th grades in a one room school house.

After retirement she and her husband took a trip around the world. They were also the recipients of the Marian Award from the Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a rosary service following from 7:00pm-7:30pm on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the “America the Beautiful” Chapel at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado.

A Mass service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. A reception will follow at the International Polka Club at noon, 2422 Busch Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado.
