George “Pops” Hill Jr. died peacefully on October 18th, 2019 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 81.
George is survived by his wife, Lora Hill; children, Sabrina Walker, Douglas Hill, Walter Hill, George Hill III; stepchildren, James Kohrs, John Kohrs and Lorrie Cunning; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George was born on May 12th, 1938. He was married previously to Shirley Dorris and raised 4 children. He then married Lora Hasty, and for over 30 years has provided support to her 3 children as if they were his own. His children and stepchildren remember him as a kind father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
George was accomplished at construction management and loved discussing his work with others. One of his favorite stories was about how he hitchhiked across the entire country when he was younger. George was a Navy Veteran. He was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints and often volunteered at his church.
A viewing is scheduled for Monday, October 28th at 12:00pm, with services starting at 1:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Colorado Springs, 150 Pine Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80906. The burial is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th at 1pm at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925. Bishop Todd Hawker will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate George Hills’s life.
