Hildegarde K. Norris, 91 years old, died at her apartment at Liberty Heights on Saturday, August 17, 2013 of natural causes. She was born in Heilbronn, Germany, on March 15, 1922, and came to the U.S. as a small child with her parents. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Colonel Harold S. “Hap” Norris, who passed away in 1995. Survivors include her sons, Chris M. Norris (wife Jan), Harold S. “Hap” Norris Jr. (wife Phyllis), and Colonel Michael P. Norris (wife Cheryl), all of Colorado Springs, and her daughter Judith Hansen (husband Ralph Stansberry), of New Zealand. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was “Mom” to many good friends of her children and the many USAF Academy Cadets that she and Hap sponsored through the years.
Cremation is planned, and arrangements are being handled by the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 7400 Tudor Road, in Colorado Springs.
