Howard J. Gosnell

Howard J. Gosnell, age 88, a resident of Colorado Springs for 68 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2013 at a local hospice. He served in the Colorado Springs Fire Department for 29 years and retired as Battalion Chief.

Howard Gosnell was born on May 6, 1925 in Gas City, Indiana to the late Howard and Fayette (Dillingham) Gosnell. He attended high school in Indiana and then attended business college. He married Mary Ellen McMurray on June 1, 1946 in Hammond, Indiana.

He was an Army Veteran and served his country in World War II. Howard loved sports, especially bowling and golf. He was a life member of Post 4051, the Al Kaly Shrine, the Scottish Rite, and Masonic Lodge #76 AF&AM.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Gosnell of Colorado Springs; his daughters: Nancy (Bill) Ragsdale of Colorado Springs, Peggy (Rob) Jones of Canon City, Colorado, and JoAnn (Mark) Pace of Chantilly, Virginia. Howard also has four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Gosnell.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Mountain View Church of Christ, 1080 East LaSalle Street, Colorado Springs. Private entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
