James Bevans
October 7, 1924 – April 9, 2012

James O. Bevans, age 87, a lifelong resident of Rush, Colorado, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at a local care center. He was a retired carpenter, electrician, and former postmaster in Rush, Colorado.

James Orvan Bevans was born on October 7, 1924 in Long Beach, California to the late Joseph and Verla (Combs) Bevans. Jim enjoyed dancing, fishing, and camping, but his passion was carpentry. He will be best remembered for his generosity and his dedication to helping others. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 143 and also served as a past president of the Colorado Eagles. He served for over 20 years on the Miami-Yoder School Board and was a long term member of the Holtwood Gun Club.

He is survived by two sons: Dwight (wife, Carolyn) Bevans of Rush, Colorado; David Bevans of Kansas; and daughter: Laura Hennings of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Jessica (husband, Jeff and children Chase and Addison) Zaiger; Lucas Hennings (son, Lawrence and fiancée, Heather Kasparek); Trevor Bevans (daughters, Corrine, Ayla, and Sophie and fiancée, Jennifer Benn) and Torrey (wife, Lindsey and daughter, Tinsley) Bevans. He was preceded in death by his wife: Atsuko Bevans in 2010; his wife: Ivah Wariner Bevans in 1976; and a former wife: Mary. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Wayne Bevans; and three sisters: Grace Cusic, Eileen Smith, and June Book.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to Eagles Aerie 143 for a reception following the services.
