James Gustav Floyde, 84, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2016. He was born on September 24, 1931 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late William H. and Flore E. (Cote) Floyde. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1949 and attended Zion Bible Institute and graduated in 1952.

James married Naomi Gardner on March 4, 1961 in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania. They served as missionaries to the Philippines from 1963-1967. They were married for 46 years until Naomi passed away in 2007.

James was employed by Compassion International for 31 years (1967-1998), relocating from the Chicago area to Colorado Springs in 1980. His responsibilities were implementing the early Honeywell data processing systems and management of the systems and staff. He continued in this role until the mid-80’s and then transitioned into management of correspondence services until his retirement.

He was very active in his church and volunteering; serving as an usher at Radiant Church and Friendship Assembly of God. James served as a volunteer chaplain for the Colorado Springs Police Department as well as a chaplain for Penrose Hospital for over 20 years.

James is survived by his six children and their spouses: Faith, Nathan (Monnette), Jonathan (Laura), Daniel (Cheryl), Timothy (Tejae) and Priscilla (Dave) as well as ten grandchildren: Tim Jr., Charity, Megan, Matthew, Emily, Joshua, Micah, Pristine, Nicole and Danielle. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Naomi and his brother, William in 2007.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Friendship Assembly of God, 3685 New Center Point, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80922. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Naomi Floyde to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.
