James (Jim) P. McInroy, 81 years, passed away on July 6th 2021.  He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado; most of his life was spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 Jim was born on March 17th 1940 to Carl and Emma McInroy (Horstmen); he grew up on a farm in rural Riceville, Iowa with his three brothers.  

Jim enjoyed his friends and family and spent many days fishing and hunting with his boys, family, and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to numerous softball/baseball games and watching his grandchildren play ball for several years. He loved his grandchildren very much. Jim also enjoyed road trips with his wife Christina.

Jim attended a one-room country schoolhouse thru the 8th grade, then attended Riceville High school; graduated in 1957. He served in the United States Army for 8 years, 3 in active duty in the Cold War & 5 years in the reserve. He was awarded distinguished service in the U.S Army for exceptional duty and honor.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Christina M McInroy (Borgerson); her children, Charese Borgerson (CO), Lauren Borgerson (CO), Jeremiah Borgerson (AZ); grandchildren, Cora Borgerson & Marissa Borgerson; Jim’s children, James Kevin McInroy (WA), Kimberly Sue McInroy/Horn & husband Ted Horn (AZ), Kurt McInroy  & wife Vickie McInroy (IL) & Cindy McInroy/Gronau & husband Layne Gronau (IA); grandchildren, James Alan McInroy, Joseph McInroy & wife Liva McInroy, Amy McInroy/Gau & husband Matt Gau, and Tami McInroy. Ashley Stull/Gries & husband Brandon Gries, Courtney Stull, Hillary Horn, Meggan Horn, Morgan Horn/Michel & husband Zach Michel, Jo Grace Horn, Luke Horn, Levi Horn. Molly McInroy and Kate McInroy. Olivia Novak, Sam Novak, Finley Gronau & Hayden Gronau; great grandchild, Joey McInroy; and his brother, Orville (Lisa) McInroy.

Jim was preceded in death by parents, Carl & Emma McInroy; brothers, Keith McInroy & Jerry McInroy; and Christina’s father, Robert Borgerson

A visitation will be held from to 12:30pm until 1:30pm on July 21st at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.  Graveside services will be held at 2PM at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road.

  1. To The McInroy Family, I am sorry to hear of Jim’s recent passing. I worked with Jim for several years at Penford Product’s in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Jim was a good man, a hard worker, someone you could always count on. My Thought’s & Prayer’s are with your family at this difficult time. May Jim Forever Rest In Peace.
