James Robert Thorpe, 82 years old, passed away on November 10, 2025, following several years of dementia. Jim was a resident of Colorado Springs for 55 years. He was a firefighter with the Colorado Springs Fire Department for 25 years.
Jim was born on May 19, 1943, in Watsonville, California. On July 14, 2007, he married Virginia Bradfield in Colorado Springs, Colorado; this year they celebrated their 18th anniversary.
Jim loved woodworking, traveling, being a cuddler in the NICU, and reading, especially the Bible. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. Jim attended Watsonville High School and Pikes Peak Community College.
He served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Virginia Thorpe. He was preceded in death by both parents and all his siblings.
Jim chose not to have a service. He will be cremated and his ashes interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at a later date.
