Joanne B. Church, age 83, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1974, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at her home following a long illness. She was a homemaker and an Army Wife.
Johanna Berta Delage was born on May 9, 1929 in Germany (now Poland) to the late Willi Heinrich and Berta Meta Klara (Lier) Delage. She attended schools in Germany and married Carroll Allen Church on December 31, 1957 in Büdingen, Germany. Her husband, CSM Carroll A. Church, US Army (Ret.), passed away in 2002.
She is survived by her son: Harold Church (wife, Angelika Klaus) of Colorado Springs; and her daughter: Sylvia Holden of St. Charles, Missouri. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Tom Holden of Texas; Cassandra Church of Colorado Springs; and Joseph (wife, Kira) Church of Austin, Texas. She has five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers: Manfred Delage; and Gerhard Delage; and a sister: Giesela Jöckshat. Also preceding her in death were two grandchildren: Yvonne Holden and Marc Holden.
Private family graveside services will be held next week at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
