John D. Hedger

John D. Hedger, age 70, a longtime resident of Fountain, Colorado, and a life long law enforcement officer, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2013 at his home in Fountain. He had retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service in the military police and had also retired from the El Paso County Sheriff’s office.

John Dale Hedger was born on December 27, 1942 in Brown County, Indiana to the late Jake and Ethel (Lauderdale) Hedger. He attended high school at the Center Grove High School in Indianapolis, and then joined the United States Army. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Retired Sheriff’s Association, the American Legion, and the VFW.

He is survived by his daughters: Patricia (husband, Darren) Wallace of Vandenberg Air Force Base, California; and Diana Hedger of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his former wife: Brigitte Hedger of Colorado Springs; and three sisters: Carolyn, Sue, and Joann. Also surviving are his eight wonderful grandchildren: Cody Wallace, Katelynn Griffith, Tabitha Wallace, Haley Wallace, Madison Wallace, Krystal Harris, J.D. Krietemeyer, and Nicole Krietemeyer; a great-grandson, Aiden John Jay Harris; and a niece: Ethel (husband, Donald) Dotty of Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the chapel. Cremation is planned and his ashes will be scattered in the Pikes Peak Region of Colorado.
