Jon “Nelson” Hamill, 70 years old, passed away on August 16, 2025. He was a lifetime resident of Pueblo, CO. Nelson was a graduate of Pueblo South High School and received his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, CO. He was a dedicated teacher and after graduation, he taught middle school at Roncalli Middle School in Pueblo.
Nelson was born on October 28, 1954, in Pueblo, CO, to Dr. Richard G. Hamill and Annalora Elfrida Schocke (Hamill).
Nelson was fond of both snow and water skiing, cooking, bartending, and doing magic acts, especially for children and while bartending for customers. Nelson was raised Lutheran; in fact, his godfather is Pastor Kuhol of Pueblo. Nelson was a devoted churchgoer, attending Connections Church in Pueblo West, CO.
He is survived by his loving family: son, Adam T. Hamill, and Adam’s mother, Lisa Hamill-Knight, both of Longview, Texas. Nelson’s siblings are Glenn Hamill (Carol), Theo Hamill (Betsy), and Marcea (Sis) Hamill.
Nelson’s service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Shrine of Remembrance at 1730 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center located at 975 S. Union Blvd., directly across the street from the Shrine of Remembrance.
