Lieutenant Colonel Ralph E. Comiskey

Lieutenant Colonel Ralph E. Comiskey, United States Army, Retired, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at a local hospital. He had served his country for more than 21 years in the United States Army and was the owner of RIMCO Insurance Agency. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Ralph Edward Comiskey was born on August 14, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Edward James and Elizabeth Charity (Boley) Comiskey. He was a 1948 graduate of Washburn High School in Topeka and a graduate of Kansas State University. He served in Vietnam and received the Meritorious Service Medal. He married Eva Joan Fearn on August 21, 1954 in Topeka. He was a member of the Colorado Springs Bowling Association and bowled in the men’s senior traveling league. He was also president of his fraternity at K State and played baseball there for the Wildcats. He enjoyed poker, bowling, hunting, fishing, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife: Fearn of Colorado Springs; his two sons: Michael (wife, Toni) Comiskey of Mansfield, Texas; and Matthew Comiskey of Colorado Springs; and his two daughters: Elizabeth (husband, Dirk) Schanel of Monument, Colorado; and Lori Comiskey of Hurst, Texas. He has five grandchildren: Zachary, Kathryn, Paige, Nicole, and Garrett; and two great-grandchildren. Ralph is also survived by his brother: William (wife, Dorothy) Eaton of Paxico, Kansas; and a sister: Belle Marie (husband, James) Riehle of Wausau, Wisconsin.

Memorial services with Army Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Liberty Heights Academy Lounge, 12105 Ambassador Drive. Private inurnment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.
